Shipping, delivery and BL

This policy explains how we ship exported vehicles, when shipping documents are released, and each party's responsibilities. It forms part of our terms and conditions.

Effective date: [to be confirmed]Last updated: [to be confirmed]

1.Payment before shipment and document release

Shipment and release of shipping documents are conditional on our receipt of full payment in Cleared Funds.

  • We will not release the original Bill of Lading, nor issue a telex or express release, until the full invoiced amount has been received and confirmed as settled.
  • Where an international transfer arrives short — for example due to correspondent bank fees — the shortfall must be settled before documents are released.

This protects both parties: it ensures the sale is completed correctly before the Vehicle can be collected at the destination port.

2.Shipping methods

Vehicles are shipped by the method stated on your invoice, which may include:

  • RORO (roll-on/roll-off) for individual running Vehicles.
  • Container, including shared or consolidated loading, for one or more Vehicles.

The available method depends on the destination port and the Vehicle.

3.Shipping terms (Incoterms)

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, shipments are made on [to be confirmed] terms as stated on your invoice. The Incoterm determines the point at which risk passes to you and which costs are included in the price. Costs beyond the agreed Incoterm — including destination duties, taxes, port and handling charges, and inland transport — are your responsibility.

4.Indicative timelines

Timelines are estimates only and are not guaranteed:

  • Auction purchase or procurement, then domestic transport and export preparation.
  • Vanning or loading, and booking of vessel space.
  • Vessel sailing, transit, and arrival at the destination port.

Actual times depend on vessel schedules, port congestion, weather, customs and factors outside our control. We are not liable for delays caused by such factors — see force majeure in the terms and conditions.

5.Documents provided

Subject to full payment, we provide the export and shipping documents applicable to your shipment, which may include the commercial invoice, export certificate and translation where offered, and the Bill of Lading. You are responsible for any additional documents required for import at your destination.

6.Original BL or telex release

  • Original BL: couriered to you or your agent after full payment. The original is required to release the Vehicle at destination.
  • Telex or express release: where agreed, we instruct the carrier to release at destination without the original document, after full payment.

We will confirm which method applies to your shipment.

7.Collection and destination clearance

You, or your nominated consignee or agent, are responsible for import customs clearance, payment of destination duties and taxes, and timely collection of the Vehicle. Storage, demurrage or detention charges arising at the destination port are your responsibility.

8.Title and risk

Title passes on our receipt of Cleared Funds in full. Risk passes in accordance with the agreed Incoterm on your invoice.
